SITS was not designed to replace the CBT, ( Computer Basic Training program currently on the DG Data General systems ) but compliment it. All new personnel working on the DG systems should start with the CBT, then move on to SITS. SITS covers not only the DG sections but IVRU, HP, UNIX, and SUN information and operations. As an introducer, SITS provides the user with the basic information of the office, the purpose of the ODS, POC ( Point of Contact ) information, and a network of operation with the scope of the PET. As a trainer, SITS provides graphic detail information of the hardware systems used within the ODS. As a reference, SITS is a link to many data files. Even through many of the data material has not physical moved from one area of the system to another. SITS provides a one place retrieval systems and finds what is required or provides it through it's own programing.

With the introduction of the SITS Log. Over 80% of information stored on the server can be acquired quicky through SITS. The SITS log is a powerful tool that keeps records of events, provides many searches for research, provides reports on demand from any of the search requirements, and provides automatic reports ( sent by ccmail ) to the appropriate personnel in the department. This clearly provides a quick update of events throughout the shift operations without having to physically be present. Next for SITS will be web links that will contain this web site and others for required information.
